Documentary filmmaking is is like putting a puzzle together without knowing the final picture. Similar to the realm of investigative journalism, you may begin to explore a subject later realizing the story has taken you in a completely different direction. As a documentary producer you have to think on your toes, be compassionate when dealing with difficult subject matters and have a keen eye for curiosity. Having created a number of short documentaries from environmental narratives to music education to self-satire, I longed to be a part of a feature length film. Last year I got my opportunity when I became the Executive Producer and Director of a documentary called The Smile of Sweet Thunder, currently in post-production until 2017. In the field of documentary I hope to continue creating content that draws upon human emotion, vulnerability and authentic storytelling to connect, educate and inspire a transcendent audience to become more self-aware.
